Deschutes Brewery releases Green Monster

Deschutes Brewery released Green Monster Monday, Sept 2nd at their pubs and tasting room.

Green Monster was barrel aged with Brettanomyces in Pinot barrels for 39 months.  It will be available on-tap and in 22oz bombers. According to Deschutes twitter feed, it will see limited distribution to specialty liquor stores only.  We can assume WA, OR, CA, ID Green Monster should be hitting shelves now or next week.  Unfortunately, we know it is not supposed to make it to the Mid-West.

Deschutes Notes:

Here at Deschutes Brewery, we’re always on the lookout for a chance to create something new. That’s why, more than 3 years ago, our brewers decided to fill up some Oregon pinot barrels with a beer gone astray and infect it with Brettanomyces, and then wait for the transformation. Around the brewhouse it was known as “Green Monster,” and the name stuck. At the end of this experimentation story, you will find a monstrously fantastic, sour beer, with slight cherry and dried fruit aroma. In fact, the only scary thing about this beer is that it is SO LIMITED!
